About me

Certified Orton-Gillingham educator and IEP consultant serving Long Island

I grew up watching children light up the moment something finally clicked, and I have been chasing that moment ever since. My path into special education started at Marist College, where I earned degrees in Childhood Education, Special Education, and Psychology, and deepened through four years of classroom teaching in Hawaii's public schools.

I am a certified Orton-Gillingham practitioner, which means every literacy lesson I teach is rooted in the Science of Reading: structured, sequential, and multisensory. I have worked with students who have dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and a wide range of learning differences, and I know that the right approach changes everything.

As a former Student Services Coordinator and holder of a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University (2026), I bring deep knowledge of the IEP process, special education law, and how to navigate the system as a Long Island family. I am not just a tutor. I am a partner for your child's education.

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I recommend Julia Giuricich for any role she may pursue within the field of education. As the Principal of Ho'okele Elementary School, I have had the pleasure of supervising Julia for the past four years, during which time she has proven to be an exceptional Special Education teacher and an indispensable leader within our school community.

Julia's dedication to her students and her craft was recognized early in her tenure when she received the Complex Area Milken Educator Teacher of Promise award. This prestigious honor is a testament to her natural talent, her innovative approach to instruction, and her unwavering commitment to student success.

Her expertise is widely recognized not only by the administration but also by her colleagues. She mentors fellow teachers with patience and clarity, fostering a collaborative environment that elevates the performance of the entire staff.

What makes Julia a standout candidate is her remarkable versatility. While she is an elite educator, her skills translate seamlessly into curriculum development, educational advocacy, and administration. She has a keen eye for how educational systems function and the creativity to improve them.

Letter of Recommendation

It is with distinct pleasure and professional confidence that I recommend Julia Giuricich. Having observed Julia's growth and impact in her school over the last few years in my role as a complex area special education mentor teacher, I can state without reservation that she is a standout special educator who balances meticulous technical skill with an intuitive teacher's heart.

Julia approaches planning and instruction with a level of intentionality that is uncommon. Her lesson plans are not merely outlines of activities; they are blueprints for student success. She utilizes backward design to ensure every assessment, discussion, and task aligns perfectly with core standards.

In the classroom, Julia is a master of her craft. She possesses the ability to take complex, abstract concepts and translate them into engaging, digestible content for her students. One of her greatest strengths is her refusal to accept a one size fits all approach; she views a diverse classroom not as a challenge, but as an opportunity for creative instruction.

Julia is a rare educator who does not just teach subjects; she teaches human beings. She would be a profound asset to any faculty, and I give her my highest recommendation.
